Summary
Television adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel, with its examination of class and justice in Victorian England. The probate case of Jarndyce v. Jarndyce slowly wends its way through the Court of Chancery, affecting lives over a period of many years. John Jarndyce, a benevolent country gentleman, refuses to get caught up in the case, and tries to prevent his wards from being entangled in it. Another participant, Lady Dedlock, who has a secret to hide, is menaced by the conniving lawyer Tulkinghorn, and then pursued by determined police inspector Bucket
