Between 2003 and 2008, the ACLU and the Brennan Center for Justice, together with state partners, conducted interviews with election officials in 23 states to determine the level of knowledge of their states' felony disenfranchisement laws. This report summarizes the results of telephone interviews conducted in Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington
