Summary
  • I found this fascinating, if at times painful, reading. It will be used to great effect by those who for generations to come will be studying Watergate. It is an honest bird's-eye view from the prosecutor's perspective of what went on, and contains a treasure trove of insights, some I have never seen in print before
  • While Bill Merrill was the prosecutor who was responsible for sending me to prison, I came away from Watergate with a deep respect for him as someone who was almost reluctantly doing his job, but doing it out of faithfulness to the Constitution. I have followed him over the years and have found that my assessment of him-a decent, honest, government servant-is a good reflection on his life as a whole
